New facility helps airport cargo screening

12/03/2010 15:52:02

The Customs Minister believes a new Air Cargo Inspection facility at Auckland International Airport will enhance New Zealand's capacity to prevent illegal goods crossing our border.

Maurice Williamson will cut the ribbon on the new facility at 4 o'clock this afternoon.

Last year Customs carried out 377 interceptions of drugs and prescription medicines through air cargo inspections.

Mr Williamson says the new facility will enable faster screening of both export and import cargo.
