Strengthening real estate market for autumn

12/03/2010 15:00:01

Summer might not be the only good season to sell your house, with recent signs the Real Estate market will strengthen as we move into the autumn months.

Latest Real Estate Institute figures for February, show sales recovered and remained steady last month after being the lowest in two decades during January.

President Peter McDonald says the most interest is in the $400,000 to $600,000 bracket and the largest gains in median house prices were in Taranaki and Auckland.

Mr McDonald says no change in interest rates is keeping genuine home buyers in the market. He adds though, that inquiries from rental property owners have halted, as the Government discusses potential tax changes for that sector.
