 Stephen McKernan The top man at the Ministry of Health is about to leave his post. Director General Stephen McKernan has announced he is stepping down from the job he has held since 2006. He says he is not seeking reappointment when his contract ends in July and is revealing it early so there is adequate time to find his replacement. Mr McKernan has held senior positions in the health system for at least two decades.
