Sydney FC claim they have been dreading an A-League playoff showdown with the Wellington Phoenix.

The Phoenix have continued to stun the competition after moving into Saturday's preliminary final at the Sydney Football Stadium.

Sydney FC striker Mark Bridge says his side's preference would not have been to face the Phoenix. He says they have been saying for a long time that the Phoenix will be tough in a playoff scenario.

Bridge says however, his team believe the travel factor will fall into their favour. He says the Phoenix have to travel across the Tasman, as well as deal with the time difference, so his team has no excuses.

The winner will take on Melbourne Victory in the Grand Final.
