Higher GST in place before Christmas?

09/03/2010 6:24:01

Businesses are being warned to start thinking about the wider implications of a rise in GST as an accounting expert predicts personal tax cuts could come as early as October.

The Government has indicated that GST could increase to 15 percent and PricewaterhouseCoopers GST partner Eugen Trombitas says depending on what the Government decides is the best tax package, it makes sense to have all the tax changes rolled out at once and in place before the Christmas retail rush because leaving it until 2011 could be too late."

Mr Trombitas says businesses should start thinking about how they will deal with such an increase.
