Passengers frustrated as drivers strike

08/03/2010 11:28:01

Wellington bus passengers are frustrated by what they claim was a lack of warning over today's industrial action by drivers.

Workers have walked off the job as they attend a Tramways Union meeting.

That has forced most buses off the road since 9.30am, and full services will not resume until 2pm.

Some passengers spoken to by Newstalk ZB says they were not told of the strike. Media were not alerted and were unable to inform passengers that dozens of bus services would be canceled until after the action had started.

A Go Wellington spokeswoman says notices about the stopwork meeting have been in buses for more than a week.
